Catherine Mann, a member of the Bank of England's Interest Rate Setting Committee, said Thursday that inflation expectations remain too high and interest rates should continue to contain price pressures.

Last month, Mann voted with the majority of the Monetary Policy Committee to keep the Bank of England's benchmark rate unchanged. In August, she was part of a minority opposed to a rate cut to 4%.

Last week, Mann said she believes the UK's inflation rate has become sustainably high - although that doesn't mean further interest rate cuts are completely out of the question.

However, the markets ignored these comments and the GBP/USD pair remains under pressure. Quotes continue to test the area: 1.3340-1.3390.
